Motherhood
Warning: Personal Post. This year, Iβve focused my energy on taking projects that really matter to me. As a business owner, there are times that I feel like Iβm being pulled in all different directions, the same could be said about motherhood. Meshing motherhood and my business was one of my most intense and emotional struggles that I encountered during AJβs first year. It took me awhile to balance all important aspects without wanting to do it all, and I still struggle with it at times. When I created Skybox almost 9 years ago, it stemmed from my passion for event planning and the joy of working with people that kept me going. After AJβs arrival, I realized that I needed to refocus my business and personal life. I wanted to work on projects that inspired me because anything else was just taking time away from my family. In January, my friend Chelle, approached me in creating a childrenβs book. At first I thought back on my journey of putting together Inspired Celebrations and didnβt think that I could commit to anything like this because it just might be too much to handle. Then one night after putting AJ to sleep, I remember reading the draft of the book and there was a part that said βI wish youβll always reach for the stars, and never give up, no matter how hard.β After some soul searching, I decided to take a leap and become the Creative Director for this book. Little did I know exactly what I was leaping into! Yep, itβs pretty epic. Our book, βMy Wish for Youβ is in the middle of layout design and printing deadlines. The projected publication date for the book is October 2014. I truly feel like we are creating something special (okay, maybe not epicβ¦but truly close) to share with you all. Our book is filled with heartfelt messages for our kids. For my little one, I want the best: strength, integrity, character, drive, kindness β¦ and so much more. This was the project I had been looking for, to bring out what really matters to meβ¦a project inspired by my son, for my son.
A few weeks ago I had the amazing opportunity to have our head shots taken by Annie Vovan for the βMy Wish For Youβ bio page. I selected Annie to document our photos because she is also a new mom and super talented business owner. I personally love her passion to βJust BE = Beautiful and Empoweredββ¦she has a dream to empower every women that she crosses path with and she has truly inspired me. Plus as fellow Anteaters we have a tie that is stronger than most. Zot Zot! Thank you Annie for these precious photos, I will cherish them.
For me, being the mother of this little guy has been the most rewarding, humbling, challenging, revealing, exhausting, exciting, terrifying, and rejuvenating experience.
